Summerfest 2026

Summerfest 2026 is Olney Theatre Center’s annual free open house, this year celebrating a transformed campus with a full day of performances, hands‑on classes, behind‑the‑scenes tours, community showcases, and shopping. The event runs from late morning into the afternoon, offering something for all ages as the theatre previews its upcoming season and invites the community to explore its new facilities.

When: Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 5:15 PM.

Showtimes: Performances, demonstrations, and classes are scheduled throughout the day; a full timetable with specific times is provided on the event page.

Activities: The day includes free performances, demonstrations, and classes such as “Songs of the 26‑27 Season” (featuring selections from *Some Like It Hot*, *Les Misérables*, *Crowns*, *Kimberly Akimbo*, and *Million Dollar Quartet*), “Creating the Sound of an Olney Musical” with Music Director Chris Youstra, “A Patron’s Guide to *A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder*” with cast members, an “Audition Workshop” with Casting Director Irene Martinko, and “Meet the 26‑27 Season” with Artistic Director Jason Loewith.

Behind‑the‑Scenes Tours: Guided tours of the brand‑new Bernard Family Theatre, the Gana Dunlop Maker’s Center, and the Jim & Carol Trawick Education Center are offered.

Classes: Sample classes on sound design, dance for musical theatre, playwriting for teens, acting for kids, and an introduction to Dungeons & Dragons are available; pre‑registration is encouraged but not required for these sessions.

Community Performance Groups: The open house features performances by local groups including the Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance, Sunmoluwa West African Dance Workshop, Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe, and Asala Belly Dance.

Marketplace: Multiple vendors are present, along with a popular used costume sale, food trucks, and membership specials.
