Come From Away
Come From Away returns to Ford’s Theatre in a Tony Award-winning musical about the extraordinary kindness of Gander, Newfoundland. After the September 11 attacks forced 38 airplanes to divert to the small Canadian town, Gander’s population suddenly doubled as residents welcomed 6,579 stranded passengers with food, shelter and friendship. With a lively folk-and-rock score, the production celebrates hope, community and humanity during a time of darkness.
This 2026 production marks Come From Away’s return to Ford’s Theatre 10 years after its debut there. It is directed by Kevin S. McAllister and includes accompanying educational and public-programming resources, including a digital program and a lesson plan exploring documentary and verbatim theatre.
