Intro to Irish Music Workshop

This introductory workshop invites musicians and singers of all experience levels to explore Irish music and traditional Irish tunes. Participants can learn about the Washington Conservatory of Music’s Irish Music program through an informal welcome presentation, instrument- and level-based tune-teaching sessions, and a concluding jam and traditional music performance with the Irish Inn Mates.

Instruction is led by Washington Conservatory Irish Music faculty Mitch Fanning on fiddle, Tina Eck on flute and tin whistle, Jesse Winch on bodhrán, and Eileen Estes on voice. Friends and family are welcome to attend the final performance free of charge.

When: October 17, 2026

Showtimes: 2:00–6:00 p.m.

Schedule: The welcome program runs from 2:00–3:00 p.m. in the Recital Room. Breakout sessions by instrument and experience level take place from 3:15–4:00 p.m. in the Recital Room. From 4:15–6:00 p.m., participants move to the Irish Inn for a traditional music performance by the Irish Inn Mates, with students invited to join the session.

Tickets: $50 for the workshop. Advance registration is required to reserve a spot.

Lineup: Mitch Fanning, fiddle; Tina Eck, flute and tin whistle; Jesse Winch, bodhrán; and Eileen Estes, voice. The Irish Inn Mates provide the concluding performance and jam session.

Ages and experience: Musicians and singers of all levels are welcome. The workshop is intended for players of fiddle, flute, tin whistle, and bodhrán, as well as vocalists.

Venue: Washington Conservatory of Music, 7370 MacArthur Boulevard, Bethesda, Maryland.

Locations: The program takes place at Glen Echo Park, beginning in the Recital Room and concluding at Glen Echo Park’s Irish Inn.

Accessibility and guests: Friends and family may attend the concluding performance free of charge.
