CARDINALS
Cardinals, the Cork, Ireland indie rock band, bring their DIY-rooted sound to Songbyrd Music House. Their self-titled debut EP, released through SoYoung, combines brooding intensity with more melodic and varied songwriting, including the softer track “Unreal.” Frontman Euan Manning describes the band’s connection to Cork’s grassroots scene, where they organize shows in unconventional spaces and carry that scrappy ethos into their music.
Brooklyn’s Sex Week supports the performance. The band’s 2024 self-titled debut EP ranges from playful slowcore, as heard on “Toad Mode,” to the late-night pop of “Angel Blessings.” The group features co-vocalist Pearl Amanda Dickson and Richard Orofino, whose relationship began through a shared musical connection and whose songwriting partnership has continued to develop on newer material such as “Coat.” Sex Week has received attention from FADER and Rolling Stone, playlist support from Spotify, airplay on KEXP and KCRW, and has been building toward further touring and festival appearances.
