Michelle Shocked

Michelle Shocked brings “Bootleg This!” to Hank Dietle’s Tavern as part of the Roadworks 2026 Fall Tour. The performance combines live music with an audio memoir about her career, artistic survival, media controversies, and the struggle to retain ownership of creative work. The show marks a return after a 13-year blacklist and draws on the bootleg recording that launched her career four decades ago.

The evening also features Jay Byrd, an award-winning guitarist, singer, and songwriter known for Americana-influenced originals, blues-oriented guitar playing, and an improvisational approach. Byrd is a veteran of Wavy Train, South Rail, and the Washington-area roots scene. He has opened for Little Feat, Chely Wright, Cary Morin, Kevin Gordon, and Caroline Rose, and has performed alongside Steve Winwood, RatDog, String Cheese Incident, and others.
