Artist: Chanté Moore.
Background: Moore grew up with gospel music through her family and was influenced by recordings from George Duke and Lee Ritenour. She began writing lyrics to their music and pursued professional singing after receiving a standing ovation for performing “Home” in a high-school production of *The Wiz*. She later sang with cocktail-bar bands before being discovered at age 22 by producer and executive Louil Silas, who signed her to Silas Records, an MCA Records subsidiary.
Career: Moore first appeared on the Billboard charts as a featured vocalist on El DeBarge’s “You Know What I Like.” Her 1992 debut album, *Precious*, included “Love’s Taken Over,” “It’s Alright,” and “As If We Never Met,” and achieved RIAA Gold certification. Her 1999 album, *This Moment Is Mine*, became her highest-charting album and featured “Chanté’s Got A Man At Home,” which reached the pop Top 10. She subsequently released *Exposed*, recorded collaborative projects including *Things That Lovers Do* and *Uncovered/Covered*, and appeared on the Isley Brothers’ Grammy-nominated single “Contagious.”
Recent Work: Since 2008, Moore has released four albums, including the 2017 holiday album *Christmas Back To You*. In 2024, she became the first American to compete on China’s popular television singing competition *Singer 2024*. She tied for the most first-place finishes during the 13-week competition, which reached 220 million viewers weekly. The page also notes that her 2025 project, *EVOLve*, features production from Laney Stewart, Tricky Stewart, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
