Minsoo Sohn, a pianist celebrated for his "thoughtfully conceived and poetic interpretation" (The New York Times), makes his Washington Performing Arts debut with a program dedicated entirely to one of the most monumental works in the classical repertoire: J.S. Bach's *The Well-Tempered Clavier*, Book I. This collection of 24 prelude and fugue pairs, studied by composers from Beethoven to Mozart, is a cornerstone of keyboard music. Sohn, also widely recognized as the teacher of Yunchan Lim—the youngest first-prize winner in the history of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition—brings his own refined musical intelligence and masterful virtuosity to this storied cycle, promising an evening of profound artistry.
