Homecoming featuring Gordon Sterling & The People and Isaac Hadden w Soundwaves

This free homecoming show at Union Stage on August 15, 2026, brings together three acts with deep ties to the DC and mid-Atlantic music scene. The evening features the soulful, funk- and blues-infused rock of Washington, DC's own Gordon Sterling & The People, alongside the electric-guitar virtuosity of Virginia-based rising star Isaac Hadden, with Soundwaves, a Baltimore/DC funk-rock collective, rounding out the bill.

Gordon Sterling & The People: A Washington, DC soul/funk and blues/rock band drawing from 60s and 70s influences. Their sound blends soulful vocals, introspective lyrics, tight grooves, and improvisational jams, appealing to fans of Gary Clark Jr., Michael Kiwanuka, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lettuce, and Galactic.

Isaac Hadden: A guitarist from southwestern Virginia who picked up the instrument at age 5 and was gigging locally by middle school. He now leads a touring quartet known for raw energy, spontaneous creativity, and dynamic improvisation, and he is building a strong following on the national festival circuit and the East Coast jam scene.

Soundwaves: A funk collective formed in 2021 by saxophonist/keyboardist/vocalist Ben Green. The band has played prominent Baltimore and DC venues including the 8x10, The Ottobar, Baltimore Soundstage, The Recher, Pearl Street Warehouse, The Pocket, The Pie Shop, and Capital One Hall, and has opened for touring acts such as Big Something, Big Blitz, Chalk Dinosaur, Solar Circuit, The Samples, and Thumpasaurus. Their high-energy funk rock mixes Meters-inspired funk with alternative rock.
