The Damned headline an evening of theatrical, high-energy punk rock at 9:30 Club, combining raw power with garage rock, psychedelia, gothic horror, dark music-hall drama, and a distinctly vaudevillian sense of style. Flamin’ Groovies and The Courettes are also scheduled to perform.

Formed in 1976, The Damned were among the first bands to ignite the British punk movement. They released the first punk single, the first punk album, and a second album within the genre’s early formative period, toured the United States before many of their peers, and later became the first punk band to reunite. Their music went on to influence hardcore, goth, death rock, and alternative rock.

The group’s long history includes the albums *Machine Gun Etiquette*, *The Black Album*, *Strawberries*, *Evil Spirits*, and *Darkadelic*.
