Hiss Golden Messenger - I'm People Tour

Hiss Golden Messenger is the long-running Americana project led by North Carolina singer, songwriter, and producer M.C. Taylor. The group’s music draws from folk, country, soul, and gospel, combining warm, emotionally direct arrangements with introspective songwriting that connects personal experience to larger political and social concerns.

The tour supports the forthcoming album *I’m People*, a reflective collection about resilience, community, radical hope, love, aging, family, solitude, heartbreak, and the possibility of hope in difficult times. Taylor wrote songs for the album in places ranging from Bolinas, California, to the North Carolina Piedmont and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Produced by Taylor and Josh Kaufman at Dreamland, a former church near Woodstock, New York, the record features contributions from JT Bates, Cameron Ralston, Chris Boerner, Gillian Pelkonen, Bruce Hornsby, Sam Beam, Marcus King, Sara Watkins, Amy Helm, Matt Douglas, Eric D. Johnson, and Griff and Taylor Goldsmith, among others.

About Sam Amidon: Vermont-born, London-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon performs on banjo, guitar, and fiddle. His work is known for adventurous reworkings of traditional American ballads, hymns, and work songs. His latest solo album, *Salt River*, was released through River Lea and Rough Trade in January 2025. He has also collaborated with artists including Bon Iver, The National, Bill Frisell, Nico Muhly, Beth Orton, and the Blind Boys of Alabama, and has performed with ensembles such as the Kronos Quartet, the Aurora Orchestra, and Roomful of Teeth.
