Made-In-Studio: Mosaic Making
Made-In-Studio: Mosaic Making is an interactive, hands-on workshop exploring the history, design, and construction of mosaics. Participants will learn how individual fragments can be arranged into a unified artwork while developing a personal piece inspired by abstract compositions, geometric patterns, signs and symbols, or realistic imagery.
The session includes a brief look at mosaic traditions, from ancient Mesopotamia through Antoni Gaudí and contemporary artists. Materials, instruction, and creative inspiration are provided, and all experience levels are welcome. Participants will leave with a completed mosaic that is ready for a simple grout application at home, along with skills for continuing to work in the medium. The workshop also considers mosaics as a metaphor for connection, community, creativity, and wholeness.
