L’Aquila, Italian Capital of Culture: The First Jubilee
The Abruzzo Molise Heritage Society presents a special program celebrating L’Aquila’s designation as Italy’s 2026 Capital of Culture and its place in the history of the Jubilee. Guest author Angelo De Nicola, visiting from Italy, will discuss his recent book, *The First Jubilee in History*, which examines the first Jubilee, declared in L’Aquila in 1294.
The program includes De Nicola’s presentation, a three-course meal, a question-and-answer session, and an opportunity for attendees to meet the author. The event is offered in collaboration with local regional and governmental partners in support of L’Aquila’s 2026 cultural program.
