Leonard Slatkin: Returning Love

Former National Symphony Orchestra Music Director Leonard Slatkin returns to conduct a program centered on memory, affection, and musical homage. Slatkin’s *Schubertiade* evokes the intimate gatherings associated with Franz Schubert, while Joan Tower’s *Love Returns*, an NSO co-commission written for saxophonist Steven Banks, brings that spirit of artistic exchange into the present. The concert concludes with Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3, moving from its melancholic opening to an anguished and frenzied finale.
