Eric Liu — Live Like a Citizen: 8 Ways to Change your Mindset and Our Country — at Conn Ave

Eric Liu presents *Live Like a Citizen: 8 Ways to Change Your Mindset and Our Country*, a civic and spiritual guide to rebuilding hope, democratic participation, and a healthier sense of community amid national division. Drawing on stories from Americans across backgrounds, Liu offers eight practices for resisting resentment and cynicism and turning belief in democracy into everyday action.

The book’s eight practices are to see people more fully rather than through the distortions of screens and algorithms; listen so others feel genuinely heard; feel civic joy, love, and grief; join with others in person and with purpose; fight constructively in ways that preserve the possibility of living together; change by examining one’s own views and learning from others; imagine a shared future; and commit to one another and to the work of sustaining democracy.
