Hovvdy
Hovvdy brings its emotionally direct blend of twangy indie rock, pop-country influence, and acoustic balladry to 9:30 Club. The Austin-formed duo of Will Taylor and Charlie Martin has developed its sound over more than a decade, moving from understated slowcore beginnings toward a more assured, pop-minded style. Their music explores love, loss, personal change, and the uncertainty of finding one’s place in the world, with the songs on *Big World* taking a more enigmatic and self-aware approach.
Christian Lee Hutson opens the show with songs from *Paradise Pop. 10*, an album built around detailed character sketches, autobiographical fiction, and stories of people waiting for their lives to begin. The Los Angeles-born singer-songwriter recorded the album in Brooklyn with collaborators including Phoebe Bridgers, Marshall Vore, and Joseph Lorge, with additional contributions from Maya Hawke, Shahzad Ismaily, and Katy Kirby.
