K. Sabeel Rahman — Remaking the State: A Blueprint for American Democracy - with Dorian Warren
K. Sabeel Rahman discusses his book *Remaking the State: A New Blueprint for American Democracy* with Dorian Warren. The conversation examines what the administrative state does, why its institutions matter, and how they could be redesigned to make government more accountable, responsive, and effective in serving the public.
Rahman argues that a future federal government must be rebuilt after the current administration’s dismantling and politicization of agencies. His proposed approach centers on confronting social exclusion and economic exploitation, preventing autocratic abuse, restoring public trust, and giving “we the people” greater influence over government. Warren brings experience as a scholar, community-organizing leader, public-affairs commentator, and co-president of Community Change.
