The Dragon

Spooky Action Theater presents *The Dragon*, a subversive and satirical play originally written (and banned) in Stalinist Russia. On the surface a supernatural fairytale about a town terrorized by a wicked dragon and saved by a confident Sir Lancelot, the work is actually a scorching allegory of authoritarian regimes and the mechanisms they use to control people. In a radical new adaptation that centers immigrant actors, the production collides the original fairytale with the contemporary realities of migrant detention, creating an altogether new story about the freedom of the human spirit. The cast includes Gabriel Alejandro, Raghad Almakhlouf, Surasree Das, Ryan Sellers, and Fran Tapia.
