Sondra Goldsmith Proctor recital
Organist Sondra Goldsmith Proctor presents a free midday recital at National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C., as part of the church’s Friday organ recital series. Proctor, who hails from Canton, New York, has titled the program “J.S. Bach and His Sons,” offering a survey of the Bach family’s music with works by Johann Sebastian Bach himself alongside compositions by several of his sons. The program includes pieces by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, and the whimsically catalogued P.D.Q. Bach, giving listeners a broad look at the musical legacy that extended from the great master to the next generation.
The recital is listed by the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is open to the public at no charge. Because it takes place in the church sanctuary, attendees can expect an intimate concert setting with the church’s organ at the center of the performance.
