Baby Bugs is the alternative music project of Bowie, whose songs draw on experiences with religious trauma and emotional abuse. After growing up playing bluegrass guitar and singing church hymns, Bowie began using songwriting and poetry as a way to express difficult feelings and connect with listeners who have faced similar hardships. Baby Bugs released the debut song “Hey Bunny” in 2021 at age 18; it surpassed two million streams in its first 60 days and inspired Bowie to continue writing and recording music. The performance features Elliot Lee and is part of the Jammin Java/Union Stage Presents 25th anniversary concert series.
