Wachet Auf
Join the Capitol Hill Chorale as it opens its 33rd season with a Baroque program centered on the hymn “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme.” The concert pairs two complementary settings of this Lutheran chorale, which recalls the parable of the Ten Virgins from the Gospel of Matthew, by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach and Michael Praetorius. The Chorale will also perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat, and the full period orchestra, led by concertmaster Dr. John Moran, will offer Arcangelo Corelli’s Christmas Concert. Artistic director Frederick A. Binkholder conducts the ensemble.
