Jewish Page Turners: A Book Club
On September 2, 2026, Sixth & I Historic Synagogue hosts the September meeting of Jewish Page Turners, a new monthly book club that invites participants to read a book chosen by the synagogue’s rabbis and explore how it connects to their own Jewish practice and spiritual life. This session is timed to help attendees prepare for the High Holidays, and the selected reading is Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg’s *On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World*. The book uses Maimonides’ ancient framework of repentance to address both personal wrongdoing and painful contemporary issues, including systemic racism, the legacy of enslavement, the #MeToo movement, and Native American land rights.
At the gathering, readers share their takeaways and reflect on the book’s relationship to Judaism and spirituality in conversation with one another.
