The Hip Hop Nutcracker
The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a holiday mash-up that reimagines the classic Nutcracker ballet with hip hop dance and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, directed and choreographed by Tony and Olivier Award-nominated Jennifer Weber. The story follows Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince on a dream adventure battling mice and visiting the land of sweets, but the setting is transformed from 19th-century Germany to contemporary New York City through innovative digital graffiti and visuals. A powerhouse cast of a dozen all-star dancers brings the spectacle to life, with freestyles performed by the company. The production is appropriate for all ages and runs for two hours including a 20-minute intermission.
