SHINYRIBS with Patrick Sweany (Solo)
SHINYRIBS brings its exuberant blend of Texas blues, Louisiana swamp rhythm, honky tonk, Oklahoma swing, Cajun music, Arkansas jazz, and other American traditions to the Birchmere, with Patrick Sweany performing solo. Led by Austin singer-songwriter Kevin Russell, the group combines tightly arranged musicianship with comedic physicality, storytelling, and a high-energy stage show.
This performance features the band’s compact “Shortribs” configuration, built around Russell’s songwriting and distinctive vocals. The music ranges from playful and theatrical to deeply emotional, touching on family, loss, grief, and love. SHINYRIBS is also scheduled to release its tenth album, *Real Alligator*, in autumn 2026.

Background: Russell is a founding creative force behind the Austin-based supergroup and a longtime member of the Gourds’ musical community. Langford has worked with Russell for three decades, while Hankamer serves as both bassist and co-producer of SHINYRIBS’ recent albums. Broadway and Llana perform as the Delta Dawns, and Clemons is described as a major new voice in the band.
