UMD Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition Finals

UMD School of Music students compete for the chance to appear as soloists with the UMD Symphony Orchestra in the final round of this annual concerto competition. Each finalist will perform a 15- to 20-minute excerpt from a concerto or concert piece for an independent jury. After deliberation, the jury will announce the winner and runners-up.

When: Monday, November 23, 2026

Showtime: 6:00 p.m.

Venue: Dekelboum Concert Hall at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Admission: Free; tickets are not required.

Seating: General admission.

Program: Finalists perform concerto or concert-piece excerpts lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes each.

Competition: The winner and runners-up will be announced after the independent jury completes its deliberation.

Accessibility: The Clarice offers wheelchair-accessible and size-inclusive seating, large-print programs, assisted-listening devices, sensory packs for adults and children, and quiet spaces upon request. ASL interpretation, audio description, and captioning are available for select events or by request at least six weeks in advance.
