Phillips Flash
Phillips Flash is a special edition of Phillips after 5 celebrating iconic works from The Phillips Collection. In collaboration with Cry Baby Studios, guests can receive a small flash tattoo inspired by the museum’s collection while enjoying live music, art criticism, a DJ set, an award announcement, and a Spotlight Talk with a Phillips educator.
The program also features Washington, DC singer-songwriter Justin Trawick and the Common Good, art critics Christian Viveros-Fauné and Blake Gopnik discussing and debating selected works, and DJ Stylus performing a set. Guests can learn the winner of the People’s Choice Award for *Tomorrow the Sun Will Rise: The Phillips Collection Juried Exhibition*.

Tickets: Price not available. A valid Phillips after 5 ticket is required to join the flash-tattoo line.
Flash tattoos: Designs are inspired by works in The Phillips Collection. Tattoos are available on a first-come, first-served basis, are limited to the arms and legs, and measure approximately 1 to 1.5 inches.
Tattoo schedule: The line opens at 3 p.m., and tattooing begins at 5 p.m. Joining the line does not guarantee that a guest will receive a tattoo.
Tattoo age restriction: Guests must be 18 or older to receive a tattoo.
Tattoo policy: Guests cannot be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Program: The event includes the People’s Choice Award announcement for *Tomorrow the Sun Will Rise*, a performance by Justin Trawick and the Common Good, a discussion and debate led by Strictly Critical, a DJ set by DJ Stylus, and a Spotlight Talk with a Phillips educator.

Justin Trawick and the Common Good: Trawick is a Washington, DC-based singer-songwriter who has performed throughout the East Coast since 2006 and won the Washington Area Music Award for Song of the Year in 2014. With the Common Good, he has released multiple singles and EPs and gained national attention for pandemic-era livestreams and secret backyard concerts featured by Reuters, CNN, and *The Washington Post*. He has appeared at major festivals and venues and opened for The Wallflowers, Suzanne Vega, Wyclef Jean, and Blues Traveler. He also founded the touring 9 Songwriter Series and co-founded The Circus Life Podcast.
Strictly Critical: Christian Viveros-Fauné is a curator, critic, and author who co-founded *The Brooklyn Rail* and formerly served as an art critic for *The Village Voice*. His writing examines the relationship between art and politics, and he is the author of books including *Social Forms: A Short History of Political Art*. Blake Gopnik is an art critic, historian, and biographer who was chief art critic of *The Washington Post* from 2001 to 2011 and has contributed to *The New York Times* since 2013. He wrote *Warhol* and *The Maverick’s Museum: Albert Barnes and his American Dream* and holds a doctorate in art history from Oxford University.
DJ Stylus: Also known as The Vibe Conductor, DJ Stylus is a Washington, DC-based selector known for an internationally influenced, eclectic style. After beginning his DJ career in the Netherlands, he performed for audiences across Europe and South America and developed a reputation as a discerning curator and party-rock specialist.
