Weatherday - Hornet Disaster Tour 2026
Weatherday, the solo noise-pop project of songwriter Sputnik, brings the Hornet Disaster Tour to Union Stage in Washington, DC. The show celebrates *Hornet Disaster*, Weatherday’s expansive follow-up to 2019’s *Come in* and spiritual successor to the 2022 collaborative release *Weatherglow*. Sputnik has described the album as being about hornets, with the insect’s movement, color, and form woven throughout the record’s nineteen-song tracklist. Written from an initial burst of more than seventy songs, the album maintains Weatherday’s signature urgent, noisy, erratic, and playful sound while pushing into new territory.
The lead single “Angel,” backed with “Heartbeats,” shows the project’s evolution through a snappy, springy emo anthem and a slinky, downtempo track influenced by The Knife. The album also includes “Pulka,” Weatherday’s first official song in Swedish, a tribute to Swedish winter; “Green Tea Seaweed Sea,” which features renaissance flute; and the folktronica experimentalism of third single “Ripped Apart By Hands.” Sputnik describes *Hornet Disaster* as the joyful abandon of an artist who has found their voice, doubling down on the knotted, thrashing maximalism of *Come in* while leaving no stone unturned.
