Takács Quartet Plays Haydn, Simon & Schubert

The internationally acclaimed Takács Quartet presents a program spanning Carlos Simon, Joseph Haydn, and Franz Schubert. The concert features Haydn’s String Quartet in G Major, Simon’s “Warmth from Other Suns,” and Schubert’s dramatic String Quartet No. 14, known as “Death and the Maiden.”

Founded in 1975 at the Music Academy in Budapest, the quartet is now based in North America and performs extensively around the world. Its members have collaborated with artists including bandoneón player Julien Labro, actors Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky. The ensemble records for Hyperion and serves as Christoffersen Fellows in Residence at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
