Rendering the Invisible
Rendering the Invisible is a group exhibition curated by Zsudayka Nzinga Terrell, running throughout July 2026 at Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville, Maryland. Responding to what the curator describes as a political climate that has defunded and erased art by Black, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and other marginalized communities, the show brings together 30 artists working across photography, sculpture, painting, mixed media, and installation. Drawing on Irving Weathersby’s concept of “in open contempt,” Terrell deliberately pairs narratives that are typically segregated in mainstream exhibitions, aiming to pull suppressed histories back into visibility. The exhibition also features a mini-solo presentation by Amy Rice in the Lounge Gallery, alongside resident artist displays and sculpture by Francis Maduka Uduh. Light fare is sponsored monthly by The Chesapeake Framing Company.
