Introduction to Screenprinting on Fabric
Introduction to Screenprinting on Fabric is a two-day, in-studio workshop at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center led by instructors Josh Kery and Korey Richardson. Over two Wednesday evening sessions (June 24 and July 1, 2026, 6–9pm), participants will learn the full screenprinting process specifically for fabric—from sourcing equipment and preparing artwork to printing methods, heat setting, and fabric care. The workshop is designed for beginners with no prior experience, and each student receives a new silkscreen to keep. A $70 materials fee covers consumables such as ink, tape, newsprint, emulsion, and cleaners; students also need to supply their own fabric (flat, clean, and ironed) and images to work with (guidance provided upon registration). Instructors: Josh Kery – an interdisciplinary artist working in screenprint, textiles, and code, BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, based in Washington, DC. Korey Richardson – a mixed media artist from Prince George’s County, Maryland, BA from University of Maryland, based in the DC area.
Level: Beginner – no previous experience necessary.
Materials included: Registration includes a new silkscreen for students to keep, plus ink, tape, newsprint, emulsion, and cleaners.
Materials to bring: Fabric to print on (tea towels, t‑shirts, or any flat fabric; should be clean and ironed before class); images to work with (more guidance given at registration); optional apron or clothes that can get inky; optional notebook or sketchbook.
What you will learn: Sourcing printing equipment and materials; preparing personal artwork for screenprinting; various artistic printing methods; heat setting a printed image; fabric care. Upon registration, students receive guidelines on how to source or create their images.
