NSO—Season Opening Gala Concert

The National Symphony Orchestra opens its season at Strathmore with conductor Gianandrea Noseda and pianist Yuja Wang. The program brings together celebrated orchestral works and American musical voices, including Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto, performed by Wang, and Carlos Simon’s music inspired by Washington, D.C.

The evening also features Copland’s stirring *Fanfare for the Common Man*. Simon’s *Monuments: A Suite for DC* transforms the city’s landmarks and character into sound, while Respighi’s *The Fantastic Toy Shop*, based on music by Rossini, imagines a toy shop coming to life after dark.
