Joey Alexander

Joey Alexander, the Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and composer from Bali, performs at Blues Alley in Washington, DC. Alexander began his professional career in 2013 after Wynton Marsalis invited him to play at a Jazz at Lincoln Center gala. He later moved to New York and released his debut album, *My Favorite Things*, in 2015, followed by additional albums on Motéma Music and Verve.

His recordings have received three Grammy Award nominations, including recognition for *My Favorite Things*, “Giant Steps,” and “Countdown.” Both *My Favorite Things* and *Countdown* reached No. 1 on the Billboard jazz charts, while *Eclipse* reached No. 3. Alexander has performed with Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding at the Obama White House, for President Bill Clinton at the Arthur Ashe Learning Center Gala, and at venues and festivals including the Grand Ole Opry, the Apollo Theater, Carnegie Hall, and jazz clubs around the world. He has also been profiled by *60 Minutes* and *The New York Times*.
