Joey Alexander
Joey Alexander brings his acclaimed trio to Blues Alley for a single evening performance, showcasing the maturing artistry of the Indonesian-born jazz piano prodigy. Now based in New York, Alexander has built a remarkable career since his breakthrough as a teenager, and this intimate club date promises a lyrical, refined set from one of contemporary jazz’s most celebrated young instrumentalists.
Alexander first gained international attention in 2013 when Wynton Marsalis invited him to perform at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Gala. After relocating to New York, he released his debut album, *My Favorite Things*, in 2015, followed by several more releases that earned critical acclaim and commercial success, including chart-topping positions on Billboard’s jazz albums chart. His recordings have garnered three GRAMMY Award nominations, spanning Best Jazz Instrumental Album and Best Improvised Jazz Solo categories. Over the years, he has performed at the White House alongside Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding, appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, and the Grand Ole Opry, and been profiled by outlets such as *60 Minutes* and *The New York Times*.
