Capital City Symphony: Mysterious Landscapes

Capital City Symphony opens its season with a program tracing movement through landscapes both physical and imaginative. Doreen Carwithen’s energetic concert overture *One Damn Thing After Another* begins the evening with momentum and humor, followed by pianist Caroline Su performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in B-flat Major, No. 15, K. 450. Su is the winner of the Capital City Symphony’s Novik Competition and appears with the orchestra under the direction of Maestra Gau.

The program continues with Maria Grenfell’s *River Mountain Sky*, which evokes the natural world through shimmering orchestral color. Alan Hovhaness’s Symphony No. 2, *Mysterious Mountain*, concludes the concert with a radiant, contemplative sense of reaching toward something beyond ourselves.
