Music Salon: Echoes of the East
Music Salon: Echoes of the East examines the cultural influences and international encounters behind the music of Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Jacques Ibert. PostClassical Ensemble’s program considers how these French composers imagined cultures and places east of Western Europe and incorporated those ideas into the classical tradition.
Oboist Fatma Daglar, drawing on her Turkish heritage, joins clarinetist David Jones and pianist Audrey Andrist for performances emphasizing vivid color, rhythmic energy, and expressive detail. The musicians and PostClassical Ensemble music director Angel Gil-Ordóñez will also provide commentary during the salon, held in the historic Hay-Adams Room.
