GINA YOUNG

Gina Young brings her multifaceted artistry to Black Cat, headlining a bill that also features MAC N' TOSS and RENRIOT. Young is a Washington D.C. native who has built a career across music, theater, film, and television as a writer, director, playwright, songwriter, and performer. She emerged in the tail end of the riot grrrl era, studied theater at NYU/Tisch, and spent years touring as a singer-songwriter, playing queer and feminist events like LADYFEST and opening for acts such as Le Tigre, Team Dresch, and Kimya Dawson. She later founded TEAM GINA, the queer femme electronic pop duo known for the viral video “Butch/Femme,” and currently runs SORORITY, a queer performance platform she is adapting into a digital series. The evening also features sets from MAC N' TOSS and RENRIOT, completing a lineup of independent and queer-affirming music.
