Beverly Gage — This Land is Your Land: A Road Trip Through U.S. History - with Timothy Shenk — at Conn Ave
Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Beverly Gage presents her new book *This Land Is Your Land: A Road Trip Through U.S. History* in conversation with historian Timothy Shenk at Politics and Prose. Gage’s book offers a cross-country journey to the museums, historic sites, roadside attractions, reenactments, and souvenir shops where Americans learn—and argue about—their history. Published in the 250th anniversary year of the Declaration of Independence, the book explores thirteen places and thirteen key moments that define the nation’s greatest successes and challenges. Gage, who teaches American history at Yale and won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Biography for *G-Man: J. Edgar Hoover and the Making of the American Century*, will be joined by Timothy Shenk, a historian of modern American politics at George Washington University and author of *Left Adrift* and *Realigners*. The event is free and open to the public, with first-come, first-served seating in the store; a livestream option is also available for those unable to attend in person.
