Gods & Dances
Dr. Mary-Victoria Voutsas presents *Gods & Dances*, a solo and chamber recital examining the many strands of Hellenic piano music. The program connects the neoclassical lyricism of Manos Hadjidakis and Dimitri Mitropoulos with instructional and experimental works by Manolis Kalomiris and Iannis Xenakis, offering a wide-ranging portrait of Greek musical modernity shaped by identity, dance, lyricism, and 20th-century innovation.
Voutsas, an award-winning concert pianist, collaborative artist, and educator, is recognized for her interpretations of 20th-century music, particularly the piano works of Hadjidakis and Mitropoulos. She will be joined for part of the recital by violinist Anna Matijasic Hennessy, whose career has included chamber music, European rock touring, jazz, youth-orchestra conducting, and cabaret performance.
