STC Salon
STC Salon invites audiences to look beyond the finished performance and explore how Shakespeare Theatre Company productions are created. Led by Artistic Producer Drew Lichtenberg, the series offers guided conversations about directing, acting, design, dramaturgy, stage management, technical production, administration, and the many forms of collaboration that bring a production to life. Participants can ask questions, share observations, and engage directly with artists and staff in an intimate setting.
The 2026/27 season includes six Salon programs connected to STC productions, along with exclusive enrichment opportunities for members. Non-Shakespeare productions receive three focused discussions, while Shakespeare productions receive more extended, multi-session explorations. Additional offerings may include Behind the Curtain events, symposia, and other special programs.
When: August 26, 2026, through June 2, 2027.
Showtimes: Salon meetings take place on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Holiday and company-calendar adjustments are noted on the individual Salon registration pages.
Schedule: The Score runs August 26 through September 23, 2026; Frida…A Self Portrait runs October 7 through October 28, 2026; A Midsummer Night’s Dream runs November 4 through December 16, 2026; A Raisin in the Sun runs January 6 through February 17, 2027; Romeo and Juliet runs March 17 through April 21, 2027; and Follies runs May 5 through June 2, 2027.

Leader: Drew Lichtenberg, STC’s Artistic Producer, leads the series. He has worked as a dramaturg, literary manager, and artistic producer in residence at STC since 2011, contributing to more than 65 productions. His other dramaturgy credits include Broadway and Off-Broadway companies, major regional theaters, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the Royal National Theatre. He is the author of *The Piscatorbühne Century* and *Shakespeare in the Theatre: Shakespeare Theatre Company*, and holds a Doctor of Fine Arts in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism from Yale School of Drama.
Participants: Conversations may feature directors, actors, designers, technicians, stage managers, dramaturgs, producers, program staff, and other STC artists and employees involved in the productions.
Format: Each meeting is a guided, in-depth discussion of an STC mainstage production and its creative process. Topics may include lighting choices, costume materials, sound design, rehearsal discoveries, dramaturgical research, season planning, production logistics, and the work required to connect a production with its audience.
