Politics and Prose and GW Presents: Rachel Maddow | Department of Fate

Rachel Maddow presents *Department of Fate*, a book that examines how the history of a pivotal institution can offer guidance for building a more resilient, redemocratized America. Written with Maddow’s characteristic sharpness and clarity, the book responds to an era of political polarization and misinformation with an urgent call to rebuild the republic and fulfill its highest ideals.

Maddow is the Emmy Award- and Murrow Award-winning host of *The Rachel Maddow Show* on MS NOW. She is also the bestselling author of *Drift*, *Blowout*, and *Prequel*, and coauthor of the New York Times bestseller *Bag Man*. She earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Stanford University and a doctorate in political science from Oxford University. She lives in New York City and Massachusetts with her partner, artist Susan Mikula.
