Exploring Color Fearlessly

Exploring Color Fearlessly is a solo exhibition by Noreene Janus featuring vibrant abstract paintings built from saturated reds, yellows, oranges, and blues. Her compositions combine bold black lines with layered ribbons and forms that twist, intersect, and suggest swings, ladders, windows, and passageways. The resulting scenes embrace movement, complexity, and the productive chaos of lived experience.

Janus develops her compositions digitally on an iPad before transferring them to canvas. The exhibition reflects her progression from painting small representational watercolors to creating large-scale abstractions that allow her to express intuitive ideas and emotions beyond the constraints of realism. Her work draws on a life shaped by cultural change, international travel, and time spent in Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, Spain, France, and India, with Latin American life and art providing an ongoing source of inspiration.
