Peace, Love & Boogie Woogie Happy Hour • Bill Starks w/Willie Barry
Peace, Love & Boogie Woogie Happy Hour features Bill Starks and Willie Barry in an early-evening set at Hank Dietle’s Tavern. The free performance brings together boogie woogie, honky-tonk, blues, rock and roll, Americana, rockabilly, and early country, with Starks’ piano-driven songwriting alongside Barry’s vintage roots style.
Bill Starks is an award-winning songwriter and keyboard player known for energetic piano, a warm, seasoned vocal sound, and a genre-blending approach. He has performed with the Washington-area Americana group Ruthie and the Wranglers, the NRBQ tribute act Me & the Boys, and BandHouse Gigs. His song “300 Miles from Memphis to New Orleans” won a Washington Area Music Award for Song of the Year, and he received the WAMA Songwriter of the Year honor in 2015. Starks has also released the solo albums *I See Trouble* and *Do You Hear Me Now?* on Azalea City Recordings.
Willie Barry is a Washington, DC–area rockabilly and hillbilly singer and guitarist who leads The Rock-A-Sonics and Willie & His Chaperones. His performances draw on 1950s country and early rock and roll, featuring traditional arrangements, three-part harmonies, dance-friendly hillbilly numbers, and jukebox ballads. His 2025 duets album, *This Is How We Duet*, was produced by Deke Dickerson at Ecco-Fonic Studios and includes appearances by Big Sandy, Dani Colace, Dave Stuckey, and Eddie Clendening.
