Eugene Onegin
The Wolf Trap Opera presents Tchaikovsky’s *Eugene Onegin*, an opera based on Alexander Pushkin’s novel that explores a passionate and tragic journey into the Russian soul. The story follows young, idealistic Tatiana who writes a heartfelt letter to the world-weary Eugene Onegin, only to be met with his callous rejection—a decision that sets both of their lives on an agonizing course of regret and missed chances. The score masterfully combines soaring lyrical beauty with raw dramatic intensity to create a perfect portrait of unrequited love and sorrow. Sung in Russian with English captions, the performance runs approximately three hours with one intermission and contains audible gunshots.
