Chine Collé Collage Assemblages

Chine Collé Collage Assemblages is a two-day workshop intensive that explores the art of collage assemblage through the lens of silkscreen printing. Led by Philadelphia-based multidisciplinary artist Eliza Clifford, participants will first create their own screenprinted collage papers using layered imagery, texture, and pattern, then combine them with drawings, found paper ephemera, and other collected materials to build one-of-a-kind collages. The workshop incorporates both classic adhesive methods and traditional Japanese techniques using starch paste, emphasizing reuse and transformation of printed materials.

When: Saturday and Sunday, July 11–12, 2026, from 10:30am to 4:30pm each day.

Tickets: $352.00 per person. Registration is extended through July 5, 2026. A materials fee of $25 is included in the registration cost to cover consumable supplies such as ink, workshop-use screens, adhesives, and additional papers for collage. Instructor: Eliza Clifford is a Philadelphia-based multidisciplinary artist, printmaker, and arts educator. Her work explores memory, perception, and transformation through digital and craft-based technologies including printmaking, book arts, textiles, alternative photography, natural dyeing, quilting, and sewing. She has taught at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Women’s Studio Workshop, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, and VisArts, and has completed residencies at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, Remarque Print Workshop, and Penland School of Craft. Her work is held in national collections and has been exhibited widely, including at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Washington Printmakers Gallery, and the Morgan Conservatory.

Level: Intermediate/Beginner. Introduction to Screenprinting or similar experience with silkscreen printing (6 hours) is required.

Materials: Participants must bring personal supplies including (optional) an apron or clothes that can get messy, (optional) a notebook/sketchbook, paper for printing such as kozo or mulberry papers, any additional prints, misprints, and ephemera from their own stash, and (optional) a personal screen if they wish to use existing designs or keep designs developed in class.

Venue: The workshop will be held in the Screenprinting Studio.
