BSO - Alsop Conducts Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique

Marin Alsop conducts the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a program centered on remembrance and musical reflection. The concert begins with Samuel Barber’s searching Adagio for Strings, followed by John Adams’s Pulitzer Prize-winning *On the Transmigration of Souls*, which Adams described as creating a “memory space.” The program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s emotionally powerful Symphony No. 6, known as the “Pathétique.”

Presented in recognition of the 25th anniversary of September 11, the concert brings together music that is described as impassioned, sincere, and ultimately life-affirming.
