Irish Sean Nós Dance for Adults

Irish Sean Nós Dance for Adults is a class presented by Kate Spanos Irish Dance at The JaM Space in Rockville. The course introduces sean nós, an expressive and musical Irish dance tradition whose name means “old style.” Originating in Ireland’s Connemara region, the form emphasizes improvisation, close connection with the music, and percussive footwork.

Students will work on close-to-the-floor stepping, a relaxed upper body, basic improvisation, and ways to create a playful, creative dialogue with the music, musicians, and fellow dancers. The class is designed for beginners and advanced beginners ages 13 and older, although dancers of all levels are welcome.

When: The page identifies the series as running from September 2 through December 16, 2026. The individual sessions listed on the page are September 30; October 7, 14, 21, and 28; November 4, 11, and 18; and December 2, 9, and 16, 2026.
