Laura Veirs

Laura Veirs performs with Karl Blau at Jammin Java as part of the Jammin Java/Union Stage Presents 25th anniversary concert series. The concert celebrates Veirs’ album *Temple Songs*, her first album in four years and her first project written, recorded, arranged, produced, and performed entirely by herself.

*Temple Songs* was created over three months in fall 2025 at Veirs’ backyard Temple of Bloom studio. She recorded the 11-track, approximately 30-minute album with two microphones and a laptop in a small room, embracing imperfections, ambient neighborhood sounds, and a handmade, organic approach influenced by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. The music combines intimate vocals, intricate nylon-string fingerstyle guitar, electric-guitar accents, and themes ranging from contemporary uncertainty and family to artistic independence and collective self-determination. Veirs plays guitar, bass, drums, tambourine, and percussion on the album, with saxophone from an unnamed special guest.

Album: *Temple Songs* contains 11 tracks and has an approximately 30-minute running time. Mixing was handled by Philip Weinrobe, and Veirs also created the album’s calligraphy and paper-collage back-cover artwork.
