Japanese-style Garden Month
Hillwood Estate's Japanese-style Garden Month is a four-week celebration dedicated to the unique Japanese-inspired garden designed by Shogo Myaida. This garden artfully blends Japanese and American traditions, reflecting Marjorie Post's passion for collecting decorative objects and integrating seamlessly into the estate's landscape. Throughout July, the estate offers a variety of special programming that invites visitors to explore the garden's beauty through specialty tours, floral workshops, and festive performances. The celebration extends beyond the garden: Merriweather Café features exclusive Japanese-inspired culinary specials, and the museum shop stocks themed merchandise. While general admission to Hillwood is by suggested donation, many of the month's individual programs carry separate fees; some are included in the suggested donation, and others require paid tickets, with discounts for members.
