WEEDEATER

Wilmington, North Carolina sludge-metal band Weedeater headlines an evening with Zeke, Royal Thunder, and Yes Ma’am. Led by vocalist and bassist “Dixie” Dave Collins, Weedeater emerged in the mid-1990s as a side project while Collins was involved with sludge-metal group Buzzov*en. After that band ended in 1998, he focused more fully on Weedeater.

The band released its first two sludgecore albums, *And Justice for Y’All* and *Sixteen Tons*, in 2001 and 2002, both produced by Billy Anderson. Collins later toured as the bassist for Bongzilla and played with Wilmington band Sourvein while continuing to work with Weedeater guitarist Shep and drummer Keko. After years of touring, including appearances with C.O.C. and Alabama Thunderpussy, the group released its third full-length album, *God Luck and Good Speed*, through Southern Lord in 2007.
