WEEDEATER

WEEDEATER brings its Wilmington, North Carolina sludge-metal sound to the Black Cat, with ZEKE, ROYAL THUNDER, and WITCH’S MIRROR on the bill. The band began in the mid-1990s as a side project for vocalist and bassist “Dixie” Dave Collins, who had been involved with the sludge-metal group Buzzov*en.

After Buzzov*en ended in 1998, Collins devoted more attention to Weedeater. The group released its first two sludgecore albums, *And Justice for Y’All* in 2001 and *Sixteen Tons* in 2002, both produced by Billy Anderson. Collins also spent time touring with Bongzilla and playing with Wilmington’s Sourvein, while continuing to perform and record with Weedeater guitarist Shep and drummer Keko. The band’s third full-length album, *God Luck and Good Speed*, followed in 2007 through Southern Lord.
