Esther Haynes • Keith Grimes • Dean Dalton
Esther Haynes, Keith Grimes, and Dean Dalton present an intimate, easygoing evening of acoustic swing, jazz, and American roots music at Hank Dietle’s Tavern. Designed for attentive listening without overpowering the room, the trio’s warm set combines swing, soulful grooves, tasteful guitar work, and close musical chemistry.
Keith Grimes is a longtime fixture on the D.C. music scene. He served as lead guitarist and co-musical director for the late Eva Cassidy, contributing to many of her celebrated recordings, and has also performed with Chuck Brown, The Nighthawks, Bill Kirchen, and others. Esther Haynes contributes rhythm guitar and vocals, drawing on early jazz and classic American roots traditions. A Berklee-trained musician who graduated summa cum laude, she is a 12-time Wammie winner for jazz and swing vocals, and her recordings, including *Moon Country*, have received awards and critical praise. Bassist Dean Dalton supplies the trio’s deep, soulful foundation, informed by performances with regional blues and jazz artists such as Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark, Bad Influence, and Built 4 Comfort.
