Dave Zirin — The People's Historian: The Outsized Life of Howard Zinn

Dave Zirin, sports editor at *The Nation* and author of eleven books on the politics of sports, presents a deeply researched biography of the iconic radical historian Howard Zinn. Co-sponsored by the Zinn Education Project (coordinated by Rethinking Schools and Teaching for Change), the event focuses on Zirin's book *The People's Historian: The Outsized Life of Howard Zinn*. Drawing on access to Zinn's personal papers and input from his family, the biography examines Zinn's life and work as a progressive thought leader, placing him in the broader context of American history and the times that shaped him. Zinn is best known for his classic national bestseller *A People's History of the United States*, which has sold more than four million copies. Zirin's previous works include *The Kaepernick Effect* and the NAACP Image Award–nominated *The John Carlos Story*, and he has been named one of *UTNE Reader*'s "50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Our World." The Zinn Education Project provides free people's history lessons, classes, and study groups for teachers nationwide.
