Debra Perkins: *Happenstance* presents artworks created through a labor-intensive process of layering paint, collage, and drawn or painted marks. Perkins builds up a history on each surface, then adds further layers of color, shape, and occasional ephemera. The resulting pieces move between serenity, introspection, and serendipity, while also conveying bursts of kinetic energy. The exhibition explores the emotional experiences of living in a state of constant change.
